Patients may present in our clinic to gain a better understanding of their natural cycles, natural conception, balancing hormones as well as during different phases of pregnancy.

Tui na Massage

Tui na Massage

Tui na – pronounced twee-nah – is another branch of TCM that is often used in conjunction with acupuncture treatment in our Jindalee clinic.

Tui na is a form of massage that helps to stimulate the flow of Qi to promote balance and harmony inside oneself and their environment. Using many of the same principles of acupuncture, the focus of Tui na is to use oscillation and pressures along channels of the body (Chengnan, 2000).

While Western massage is focused on muscles, bones and joints without regard for the flow of Qi, Tui na aims to help relieve energy blockages stored within the body which can hinder the flow of Qi.

Tui na has been utilised over many thousands of years to support musculoskeletal ailments, gut imbalances, womb support, emotional wellbeing, relaxation and stress (Chengnan, 2000).

Cupping

Cupping

At our acupuncture clinic in Jindalee, we perform the traditional method of ‘fire cupping’ which is the use of specialised glass cups that are heated using fire, creating the perfect suction for this ancient form of therapy.

Fire cupping produces negative pressure by burning away the oxygen in the cup thereby creating a completely closed system. This allows for the skin, and fascia to be lifted and stretched, thereby increasing blood flow and proficient removal of toxins (Zhou, P. et al., 2019).

Cupping is a wonderful branch of TCM that may assist with (Zhou, P. et al., 2019);

  • Relieving acute, chronic and general muscular pain

  • Reducing painful muscle fibres and trigger points

  • Decreasing bodily toxins

  • Enhancing the flow of Qi, lymph and blood circulation

  • The promotion of mobility and range of motion

From a diagnosis point of view, cupping can be used to determine what ailment an individual is suffering from - things like the level of blood and Qi stagnation, toxin build-up, or dampness accumulation in your body (Zhou, P. et al., 2019). The time taken for this discolouration to disappear can also indicate how well your circulatory system is functioning. Light red cupping marks for instance will begin to fade within a day whilst darker purple marks may take up to two weeks, depending on the area of injury (Zhou et al., 2019).
