Autumn in Traditional Chinese Medicine
Different seasons correlate to different organs in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Autumn is the season associated with the LUNG and LARGE INTESTINE organs.
Conditions associated with the lungs may become more prominent during the season of autumn (e.g. colds and flus, sinusitis, asthma etc.). The large intestine organ in TCM is associated with the energy of "letting go". During the season of Autumn we may be called to let go of things of the past that may no longer be serving us. Issues in doing so may present as issues with bowel flow.
The emotions associated with Autumn is sadness and grief. We may find ourselves becoming more sensitive or feeling these feelings more. Unprocessed sadness that may have been stagnated within the body may present itself again during this season, as your body tries to regulate these emotions.
It's a time to self reflect, go within, process and let go. Be gentle with yourself this autumn and be patient with the process.
